When I was first introduced to Brazilian music, I had no idea that it would one day become the focus of my musical life. As a musician, I had already made the journey from classical to popular music, but Brazilian music seemed to contain everything I had ever learned and a whole lot more. I couldn’t believe then and still can’t believe its incredible variety, energy and sensuality.

As fate would have it, the same dear friend who introduced me to Brazilian music also introduced me to Debora, a beautiful woman with a beautiful Brazilian soul. Though she was not singing professionally when we met, I knew the first time I heard her sing that she had something very special to offer. Little did I know that she would one day be both my wife and musical partner.

As a child growing up in Saquarema, a small "surfer" town about 1 hour north of Rio, I used to put on records and sing all day in the house whenever I was alone. I would give up anything for those moments, even a day at the beach! Still, my focus was always on my academic studies so when I came to New York I continued my chosen profession, Pharmacy…

After meeting John, however, I noticed that he was encouraging me to take singing more seriously. I actually resisted this new world for a while, but in the end, I felt I could trust his instincts. With his love and support John was able to open up my inner world in so many ways and to this day our journey together keeps getting better and better. And as you can imagine, Pharmacy… is now a thing of the past!
